George After James is a band lead by James Fistonich, a guitarist and singer based in Auckland. His intricate guitar playing, soaring vocal melodies and innovative writing combine to form detailed sonic layers that support his contemplative and honest lyrical wanderings.
His upbringing has had a profound impact on the way he views the world, whether the megacity in which he grew up, the remote Tibetan regions he frequently visited, or his home country he returned to.
George After James’ debut single 'In Your Hands (You Won’t Let Go)' was released in November 2019. The song was extensively deliberated over to arrive at its smooth and compelling sound. It builds to an expansive sonic soundscape, featuring rich vocals and soaring falsetto, with melodious riffs along the way.
He released his debut EP Wait For You in January 2020. His lyrics contemplate and wrestle with the theme of belonging, harkening back to people and places left behind. Also dealing with topics of war, sacrifice and loss, but offering glimmers of hope, steadfastness and peace.
